Humans are tiny.
As we drove home today from Durham we stopped off at the Angel of the North. Many times I have driven passed, or zoomed past on the train. Today was the first time I actually pulled off the motorway to have a closer look.
She is mighty. 20 metres tall with a wingspan of 54 metres. Steel.
That makes her something like 12 times taller than me. That’s like 4 double decker buses.
Standing next to her, every person looked so small, so fragile, so weak.
I appreciate a reminder occasionally of how small we humans are in the bigger picture of the world. Usually it is nature that makes me feel small, but this time the reminder is human-made.
